2 YEAR PROGRAM STUDENTS - REMINDER: NEW PRC/VSS Documentation Required for MAP Days and March/Arpil 2016 Placement

Good Afternoon 2 YEAR B.Ed Students,

With your 1st placement now underway, we did not want you to forget that it is each student's responsibility to secure a NEW PRC/VSS in time for your second placement, in which the MAP days will be every Wednesday beginning February 3, 2016 through until March 9th, 2016.  The 4 week teaching block is set to occur between March 21st, 2016 through April 19th, 2016.

We are asking all students to obtain a second (new) PRC/VSS document in time for their 2ndplacement in 2016.
This has been decided, to ensure that all students are prepared and can satisfy each school board’s specific documentation requirements – whether switching boards or not.

Because we cannot guarantee a placement within your desired board but make every possible effort to obtain one,  it is best to be prepared for any possible situation.

PLEASE NOTE:
A 1 step TB skin test's results are valid for 1 year from the date the TB skin test was administered.
If the one 1 year validity of the TB skin test results are up before the 2nd placement (MAP days will be every Wednesday beginning February 3, 2016 through until March 9th, 2016,  and the 4 week teaching block is set to occur between March 21st, 2016 through April 19th, 2016),  it is also your responsibility to secure a new 1 step TB skin test in time for your second placement.

We suggest that all students get started in this process as soon as possible, to manage any extended wait times for the results, experienced within your community.

OTHER COMMON QUESTIONS:
Do I need a new letter to take to the Police Services location in my community, to request a new PRC/VSS?
The answer is no.
The letter we provided to each of you in May 2015 should suffice.
(We have attached it to this communication for printing, if you have misplaced the original letter.)

If I live in the GTA and I am going to TORONTO POLICE SERVICES to obtain my PRC/VSS, is there a special application form?
Yes.
We have attached it to this communication.
Remember: The form must be printed on LEGAL sized paper for it to be considered
PLEASE BE SURE TO READ THE ATTACHED MEMO REGARDING RECENT CHANGES TO PRC/VSS FEES COLLECTED BY TORONTO POLICE SERVICES.

Once I have my new documents, am I required to submit the originals to my winter placement school board office, before placements begin?

Currently only 2 school boards insist that each student submit their new PRC/VSS documents directly to the board office, before placements begin. Those 2 boards are: Peel District School Board and Toronto District School Board.

We have attached these 2 board's instructions for PRC/VSS submission, to this communication.

ALL OTHER BOARDS WILL REQUIRE YOU TO ARRIVE AT YOUR HOST SCHOOL, WITH THE NEW PRC/VSS ORIGINAL DOCUMENTS ON THE FIRST DAY OF YOUR 2ND PLACEMENT.

LEGACY STUDENTS - REMINDER: NEW PRC/VSS Documentation Required Of All Legacy B.Ed Program Students for MAR/APRIL 2016 Placement

Good Afternoon LEGACY PROGRAM B.Ed Students,

With your 1st placement now underway, we did not want you to forget that it is each student's responsibility to secure a NEW PRC/VSS in time for your second placement, that is set to occur between March 21st, 2016 through April 26th, 2016.

The upside or benefit to this request:
Not only is each student now in a position to ensure that they are prepared for any board’s expectations that might be a requirement of their 2nd placement, even if a student does not use their new PRC/VSS for placement 2, they can use the new PRC/VSS documentation for submission to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT), as they prepare their online profile that is required of them, to obtain their certification to teach in Ontario.**

**Assumption: The new PRC/VSS can be used for OCT certification consideration, IF a student begins and completes the OCT certification application within 6 months of the new PRC/VSS being issued.

PLEASE NOTE:
A 1 step TB skin test's results are valid for 1 year from the date the TB skin test was administered.
If the one 1 year validity of the TB skin test results are up before the 2nd placement (March 21st, 2016 through April 26th, 2016), it is also your responsibility to secure a new 1 step TB skin test in time for your second placement.

We suggest that all students get started in this process as soon as possible, to manage any extended wait times for the results, experienced within your community.
