Orillia Education Library information : Print and Electronic access to resources
Happy New Year!
As we begin the winter 2022 term, the Lakehead Libraries have reverted to a Contactless Pickup Service model. At present, we expect this model to be in effect from January 5, 2022 to January 23, 2022.
Information specific to the Orillia Education Library is provided below:
Request books, journal articles and other materials for pickup:
You can place a request for a physical item to be placed on hold for you via our OMNI search system. The steps for placing a hold can be found here.
All pickups, including education items, will be at the Orillia Harvie Legacy Library on University Avenue.
The pickup hours will be:
Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays: 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 4:00pm
If you have any difficulties with placing a hold, or with pickup times, please email orlib@lakeheadu.ca
Request a scanned excerpt from a print item
The steps on this page also explain how to request that an excerpt, from a print item, be scanned and emailed to you. Please be aware that copyright guidelines dictate the number of pages which can be scanned and emailed to you.
Return of Library Materials:
All materials should be returned to the Orillia Harvie Legacy Library on University Avenue. The drop-box is located at the library desk within the Orsi Family Learning Commons.
If you have library materials that are close to their due date, you can sign in to myLibraryAccount / OMNI and renew your materials. If your item is overdue please email orlib@lakeheadu.ca to ask that your item be renewed.
Online Access to Library Resources:
A reminder that through the Education Library website you have access to many online resources that are available from any location.
Ebooks on a wide range of teaching topics. Use the Omni search box in the middle of the page. See this video for more information on finding ebooks with OMNI.
Education Journal Databases to find journal articles in Education.
Documentaries, feature films and more through Streaming media databases such as NFB, Criterion, and Kanopy.
Curated library guides on a wide variety of education and teaching topics are also available. On the Education Libraries website, go to the K-12 Resources area (middle left) and choose either P/J Teaching Resources or I/S Teaching Resources.
