Teacher Candidate Open House - York Catholic District School Board

 The York Catholic District School Board's Human Resources Team will be hosting their Annual YCDSB - Teacher Candidate Open House event on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 @ 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm

Please RSVP using the link below.


This evening will provide you with an overview of the York Catholic District School Board and our resources for Teaching staff. It will also provide an opportunity to meet and greet some of our Teachers, School Administration, Curriculum Team and Human Resources Team!

Water and snacks will be provided following the formal presentation, allowing all attendees an opportunity to socialize and ask questions in a casual setting.

Job Opening at Cadotte Lake School

Our Connected North partners and friends at Cadotte Lake School have asked for help promoting vacant teaching positions in the community.

Connected North delivers live, virtual field trips for K-12 classrooms located in northern, remote, Indigenous communities.   As you may be aware, there has been a growing teacher shortage, especially since the pandemic.  Our current program offerings are on hold until the school has capacity, so Connected North is doing everything possible to help promote this role.

ADSB Summer Symposium ‘24



Don’t miss out on one of our 10 teacher candidate spots for our ADSB Summer Symposium ‘24 featuring keynote speakers Dr. Jean Clinton and Dr. Marian Small! As well, there are eight breakout sessions offering a variety of professional learning topics to support your development (see attached flyer).

 

Registration is free of charge for these exciting two days of learning. As well, if you live beyond 100km of Sault Ste. Marie and in the province of Ontario, you can apply to be considered for two nights of accommodations at the Delta Waterfront and travel costs (mileage/flights) as per our Board’s Travel Policy. Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day; however, dinner will be at your own expense.

The Orillia Canada Day Committee needs some capable, VSS-screened students to work in the Children's Village at Couchiching Beach Park on July 1st. They are in particular need of some enthusiastic face painters who can work with children between 11 am and 4 pm.

Do you have your Transitional Certificate? Toronto District School Board is Hiring!

The TDSB is currently accepting applications for those in the Faculty of Ed who currently hold their Transitional Certificate. 

If you have your Transitional Certificate of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers that permits you to work as a Teacher Candidate, you can apply to work at the TDSB as the TDSB is currently hiring Teacher Candidates for the Elementary and Secondary Teaching panels! 


Once a Teacher Candidate has successfully completed the application and interview process and is hired to the TDSB Teacher Candidate list, they will automatically be added to the TDSB Occasional Teaching List, as long as they provide their official Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate!* 

What does this mean for TDSB Teacher Candidates? No additional application or secondary interview process needed to be added to the TDSB Occasional Teaching list!

How to Apply to be a TDSB Teacher Candidate!  

Applications for Elementary/Secondary Occasional Teaching can be found by clicking the following link:  Teacher Candidate Online Application  

A complete online application package includes:

• Online application form

• Resume

• Cover letter

• Copy of Transitional Certificate of Qualification

• Copies of teacher evaluation or practice teaching reports

• Letters of recommendation (optional)

Please note: Online applications must be completed within 48 hours of starting or it will expire. Once submitted, changes can be made by using their applicant ID number and password.


Important: Those interested in permanent teaching positions with the TDSB, must be added to the TDSB Eligible to Hire (ETH) List in order to be considered. This may require an additional interview and reference check.

HWDSB is Hiring Teachers

HWDSB is hosting teacher information sessions to learn more about their current job opportunities, how to apply, and what to expect during the interview process. They have an in-person and virtual session available for March 2024. For both sessions, will have breakout room opportunities to support you on your educator journey including: culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, high impact instructional strategies in math, self-regulation strategies for students in the classroom and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

On Tuesday February 27, at 12:30pm in the HP Commons, we are hosting a Drag Queen Storytime!



As described on this page from Mount Saint Vincent University, a Drag Queen Storytime:
.... promote(s) themes of acceptance, diversity and self-expression, presenting characters and families from diverse backgrounds. .... The overall aim of the event is to provide a positive message to children about the diversity of gender expression.


We very much hope you can attend the story time on the 27th, and that the Story time will be useful to you in your future careers as educators, when you are thinking of ways to create welcome and inclusive communities in your classrooms and schools.
