Cancellation of International Placement Program 2022

Dear Teacher Candidates:

We regret to inform you that the international teaching placement program for Spring 2022 has been canceled. We have reached this difficult decision following discussions within the University community and with our international partners. Numerous risk factors relating to the ongoing pandemic, including those related to non-essential travel restrictions and international placement delays and/or cancellations, have informed this decision.

We recognize this is disappointing news, especially for Year 2 Professional Program students who intended to apply for an international placement. If you are considering pursuing international teaching, you may wish to contact Dr. Jan Oakley, International Initiatives Coordinator (joakley@lakeheadu.ca) for resources and guidance.

To Year 1 Professional Program students: we plan to re-introduce the international teaching placement program in Spring 2023, depending on conditions at the time. Details will be communicated in the Fall of 2022. Please watch for further information at that time.
