Student Affairs is hosting the annual Education Fair this upcoming Wednesday, February 4th from 1:00-5:00pm in the Learning Commons and upper hallways of Heritage Place.
This is a GREAT opportunity to chat
with recruiters from both domestic and international boards/placement
companies.
Come prepared as some recruiters will be doing interviews on the spot or scheduling from Feb. 4 - 6 on campus; other groups are hosting information sessions on the evening of the Fair. Full schedule is posted on the event website: www.lakeheadu.ca/current-students/jobs-and-career/career-fair/education-fair-orillia
PIZZA be served at 4PM during the Education Fair for all Professional Year students. For cohorts in class at this time, we will reserve some for you rather than disrupting class. Please bring your own beverages!

How to Prepare?
· Review the LIST OF EXHIBITORS and Event
Schedule beforehand. Think about who you want to speak with most
and make the rounds according to your interests.
· Dress to
impress! Pull out your Teacher attire.
· Bring several
copies of your resume, as you may want to start your application
with some companies and might even get an interview that day!
· Bring a notebook
and pen so you can write down questions to ask and record information you
gather from recruiters.
Please note that the Learning Commons and Hallways
are booked for this event; ALL TABLES in the Commons will be used from set-up 11:00am
on Wednesday until the Fair ends at 5:00pm, so please plan your day
accordingly.
Couches and quiet study rooms are still available, as is the Computer
Lab.
Student Affairs regrets the inconvenience but we hope that you will all
attend to take advantage of this networking and information-gathering
opportunity we've organized for YOU!

Hi everyone,
ReplyDeleteIn order to make pizza distribution simpler, we will have it delivered at 4:30pm when ALL cohorts are out of class. Sorry for the change.
I know there has been some confusion about the Fair time based on the post I sent. SET-UP (moving tables, etc.) begins at 11:00am and exhibitors will begin their table set-up around Noon, so many will be available to chat before the official 1:00pm start time. I understand that some of you will be in class until 4:30pm, so please plan to come up to chat with the exhibitors right away and remember that several have info sessions or interview space booked, and will not likely be packing up and leaving right at 5pm. They often leave contact information and recruitment items so you can also stock up on those and be in touch with the recruiters you're most interested in, after the Fair. Many may also return to campus later in the term to conduct interviews, or work through Skype! Unfortunately the scheduling is not perfect but we have ensured that all cohorts can attend for at least 30 minutes to gather information and all are welcome to attend the info sessions for those groups presenting later that day.
Looking forward to seeing you all next Wednesday!
