Print Library Materials:
You can borrow many library items and bring them with you on your placement (some materials are excluded). Ask library staff for more information.
Scan and Delivery:
Electronic delivery of book excerpts and journal articles may be possible while you are on your placement. Find the book or journal title in the library's OMNI search system, sign in with your Lakehead username and password, and look for the Get It options. Choose Request Scanned Excerpt and specify what section of the item that you need.
Library Hours:
Orillia Education Library hours vary during placement. Please contact us in advance to ensure that we will be open when you wish to visit the library. You can also arrange to pick up and return items after hours at the University Avenue campus.
Special Passwords in the D2L E-Tools course-site
Some databases and software listed below require a login that is not your LU email username and password. This username/password information is available in a MyCourselink site named: Fac Ed/Library E-Tools for Teaching.

MusicPlay Online is a resource for elementary music teachers which includes new activities, printables and teacher resources. This is a wonderful teaching tool, enhancing and making it easier to model for the students how to label beat/rhythm, how to name solfa notes, and to teach the elements of music. OERB: Ontario Educational Resources Bank this is the Ontario Ministry of Education database. You may search for resources by grade, subject/course, strand, overall expectations, and/or keywords. Open Culture: The best free cultural & educational media on the web This collection provides a list of free educational resources for K-12 students featuring free video lessons/tutorials; mobile apps; audiobooks, ebooks and textbooks; free foreign language lessons; test prep materials; and free web resources in academic subjects like literature, history, science and computing.
OPHEA (Ontario Physical and Health Education Association) Elementary Curriculum Online Resources These online resources support the implementation of Ontario’s H&PE Curriculum for Grades 1-8. Britannica eBook K-12 Collection provides access to 1,400 Britannica book titles from 40 popular Britannica series and collections from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in the areas of science, social studies, and language arts.
Crabtree Digital provides access to beautifully illustrated books and educational resources on K-9+ curriculum subjects including animals, countries, life and physical sciences, geography, biographies and more. Newer collections include books on Mathematics, Makerspaces, Engineering, Explorers and Sports heroes.
TumblebookCloud (Ebooks for Middle & High School) A collection of chapter books, read-alongs, and graphic novels. Also includes videos (from National Geographic!), and audio books suitable for middle school and high school grades. Lesson plans and quizzes accompany the books.
