Any
Concurrent or Consecutive student entering the B.Ed Professional Year
program in September 2014, who wishes to utilize services offered by
Lakehead's Accessibility & Academic Skills Center must arrange to
complete the appropriate forms and meet with the Academic Skills Advisor
(Brenda Melick) as soon as you are permitted to register for classes.
(Registration will open in late June 2014. You will be notified of your
class schedule assignment and your complete list of assigned courses via
your LU email account.)
What is the Accessibility & Academic Skills Center?
This center is one that provides assistance with:
•Understanding
your
disability
•Reviewing
assessments
•Facilitating
the provision of Academic Accommodations
•Demonstrating
and/or training available assistive devices and/or software programs
•Developing learning strategies
•Arranging
test and exam accommodations
•Collaborating
with staff and faculty
And Academic Accommodations like:
•Accommodations
for
lectures may include note takers, recording of lectures, and text in alternate
format
•Exam
and test accommodations may include extra time, alternate setting, and the use
of technical
devices. All students must meet essential requirements of the
program.
Thinking Ahead To The Math Competency Exam:
As you know, it will take place on Saturday, September 6th, 2014.
•If
you require accommodations for this exam or wish to be registered for an approved accommodation of any kind, you MUST have the "External Medical Documentation Form" completed by a medical practitioner then, you must
contact Brenda Melick for an appointment (oraccess@lakeheadu.ca ) as
soon as you have registered for classes.
