Good Day B.Ed Students,
The Faculty of Education here at the Orillia campus, have planned "brush up" sessions that will take place before the compulsory Math Competency Exam on Thursday March 19th, 2015. IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THESE SESSIONS:
· These sessions are ONLY for
students who have been working on their math content knowledge.
These sessions are designed to give those students who have been
working on their math knowledge a chance to practice problem solving
prior to the exam.
· These are not
workshops designed to TEACH you math.
· It is not possible
for us to teach all the relevant math you will need for the exam in
one or two sessions (and you will find
these sessions more confusing than helpful).
· However, if you have
been working on your math, or feel confident about
your math understanding, these sessions will provide you
with an opportunity for some extra practice.
If you have a specific type of math
question, please bring it with you.
The workshop facilitator will do their best
to address it.
When Are The
"Brush Up" Sessions?:
· Tuesday March 3rd,
2015 - 5-7pm in OH7 and OH10
·
Wednesday,
March 4th, 2015 - 5-7pm in OH8

The Faculty of Education has partnered with the Elementary Teacher's Federation of Ontario, to offer you this important and relevant workshop on January 23rd, 2015.
Although it is not mandatory to attend, you
will find that its topic is one of growing importance in Ontario classrooms.
Workshop Description:
Experience in the Professional Relations and
Services Department at ETFO has confirmed that many instances of teachers facing false allegations of physical or sexual
misconduct or investigations by the employer are often the result of
questionable judgment and practices related to
professional boundaries.
This workshop focuses on maintaining
appropriate professional boundaries and implementing best practice to
minimize the risk of a teacher becoming the victim of false
allegations or disciplinary action.
Video clips, day to day school scenarios and
relevant legislation including the role of the College of Teachers are
incorporated into this workshop to encourage all
participants to consistently use best practices and maintain exemplary
professionalism at all times.
Because of space constraints, we have planned
2 sessions on each date.
Cohorts have been assigned to a specific
time-slot to attend these available workshops, based on availability in class schedules.
The ETFO Workshop details &
Assigned Presentation Schedule for each Cohort, are as follows:
