Impact Teachers - Teaching Opportunities

REMINDER - IMPORTANT - Providing Your Pending OCT Number To The Faculty of Education By May 25th, 2016

This is just a reminder.
Reading Week is a great time to get your OCT Online Application started.
Once you do, you are assigned a Pending OCT Number.

If you hope to graduate this June 2016, the Faculty of Education requires this number from each of you, to be recommended to the Ontario College of Teachers for certification to teach in Ontario.

If we do not receive your Pending OCT Number in time, we cannot recommend you... which will have implications to your timeline for being able to secure certified school board employment, after graduation.

Please make it a priority to complete this vital task.

In order for us to be able to formally recommend you to OCT, we need each of you to answer a few questions on this form.
https://docs.google.com/a/lakeheadu.ca/forms/d/164lD-7GQnMH5QlMGst-kbBmVRDlNWVIlOLzFkl1bSB0/viewform

2 Year Program Students - IMPORTANT - Entering YEAR 2 of our Consecutive B.Ed Professional Program Placement Preferences, Cohort Assignments & Carpooling Requests

Good Afternoon 2 Year B.Ed Professional Program Students,

In anticipation of the 2016-2017 academic session, we would like all Consecutive B.Ed students who plan to enter Year 2 (your final year of our program) in Fall 2016, to complete their 2nd Year Placement Preference Form before March 15th, 2016.

Entering Your Personal Information in the Online Placement Preference Application Form:
We would also ask that you have all of your personal information readily available when you complete the application form.
(Birth-date, SIN, permanent address, phone number and name/number for your emergency contact)

This information must be entered accurately, as this information will be included in the data Lakehead University submits to the Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) at the end of the school year, to formally recommend you to be certified to teach in the province of Ontario.

How To Access The Online Placement Preference Application Form:
All 2 Year Consecutive  B.Ed Students (entering Year 2 in Fall 2016) can access the Online Placement Preference Application Form by clicking here: YEAR 2 Online Placement Application Form 2016-2017 . You must be logged into your LU email to gain access.

REMEMBER:
YOU ONLY GET ONE CHANCE TO VIEW THE ONLINE PLACEMENT APPLICATION FORM - SO DO NOT ACCESS IT UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO MAKE YOUR SELECTION.  IF YOU ATTEMPT TO ACCESS IT, TO SEE WHAT INFORMATION MAY BE REQUIRED OF YOU - YOU WILL NOT BE GRANTED ACCESS TO THE FORM AGAIN.

We would ask that each of you are careful to update any new information as it pertains to conflicts of interest, heading into Year 2 of the program.

Appreciating that your immediate focus is on successful completion of your 2015-2016 academic courses and a second placement, we would ask that each of you are sure to frequently check your Lakehead email account regularly over the summer months.  All important communications will be sent to your LU email inbox, and not to personal email accounts.   Many times we need to relay or ask for important information regarding your school board choice, during our placement preparations.

Carpooling Requests, Cohorts & Course Registration (June/July 2016)
Much like this past summer, you will receive communication of your specific class schedule assignment right before B.Ed course registration opens in June /July 2016.
You will use that communication's course assignment checklist and its specific instructions, to register for your assigned course sections, when you receive the email from Julie Howell.

For those interested in submitting a request to be assigned to the same cohort/class schedule for the express purpose of carpooling during the 2016-2017 academic year, you will be able to do so once the formal communication to submit these requests is circulated via LU email.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation and patience as we continue to finalize our program planning for 2016-2017.
