This online training is based on the Commit to Kids program, which helps reduce the risk of sexual abuse from occurring within child-serving organizations. Supported by the Ontario Provincial Police and the Toronto Police Service, the program addresses risk at an organizational level.
The training covers the following:
· Background on child sexual abuse and the scope of the problem in Canada
· Introduction to Cybertip.ca – Canada’s tipline for reporting the online exploitation of children/youth
· Offenders and the grooming process
· The importance of professional and healthy boundaries when working with children
· How to handle the disclosure of child sexual abuse
· Steps to preventing child sexual abuse
· Mandatory reporting
· The importance of reporting misconduct
How does the training work?
· Designed to facilitate implementation of the Commit to Kids program
· Delivered through a 90-minute online training course, separated into eight unique modules
· Can be completed on computer, tablet or smartphone in one or multiple sittings to fit an individual’s schedule
