Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) Presentation - Mandatory for all Legacy 1 Year B.Ed Students on February 24th, 2016

Attention All Legacy 1 Year B.Ed Students,

There is a compulsory presentation for all Legacy 1 Year B.Ed students on Wednesday February 24th, 2016 in classrooms OH04 and OH08 from 5:00 - 6:30pm.We have invited representatives from the Ontario College of Teachers to speak to you about the process involved for each of you to become certified to teach in Ontario, once you have earned your B.Ed degree.


Closer to the date, we will share the plan for your room assignment for the event.

A little information about the 2 OCT representatives we will have on-hand on February 24th, 2016:

Angela De PalmaChair of CouncilAngela De Palma is an itinerant Special Education resource teacher (ISERT) with the Halton Catholic DSB.
Since joining the profession in 1993 she has taught Grades 2-8, taught French as a Second Language to Grade 1-4 students, and was a school SERT and gifted education ISERT. She previously taught in the UAE and South Korea.
De Palma has participated in the ministry’s exemplars, policy to practice and sustaining quality curriculum projects. She has been a member of OECTA’s PA day and young authors committees and contributed to its summer PD projects, Daily Occasional Teacher Survival Guide and Women’s Issues Action Kit.
Elected to the previous Council, De Palma served on the Accreditation, Executive and Fitness to Practise committees. She has an Honours BA from the University of Western Ontario and a BEd from OISE/UT and is currently pursuing an MA in Catholic leadership at the University of Toronto.

Dr. Michael SalvatoriChief Executive Officer & RegistrarCareer educator, author and linguist, Dr. Michael Salvatori is Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of the Ontario College of Teachers, one of Canada’s largest self-regulatory bodies.
Dr. Salvatori holds a PhD in Curriculum, Teaching and Learning and has served as a core French and French immersion teacher, vice-principal, principal, assistant professor, and director of the College’s membership services department during his 25-year education career.
Fluent in four languages, Dr. Salvatori has authored numerous textbooks and teacher resources. He is currently on the board of directors for the Council on Licensure, Enforcement and Regulation (CLEAR), Vice-President of the board of directors for French for the Future and is a member of the Ontario Fairness Commissioner’s consultative committee.
