Placement Procurement Process
The goal of the Placement Team is to secure as many placements as possible for students this upcoming academic year. The Placement Team will attempt to secure a K-6 placement in your preferred board first. If this is not possible, we will explore potential alternative options within the school board. If this is also not possible, we will then explore potential alternative placement options outside of the school board.
The Ontario College of Teachers is allowing alternative style placement days to count towards certification if traditional K-6 spots are unavailable in your area.
Types of Placements
TRADITIONAL/PAIRS
• Virtual from the classroom or from home
• Face to face (F2F) in the classroom with AT and students
• Hybrid model with some time spent teaching both virtually and F2F
ALTERNATIVE (WITHIN SCHOOL BOARD)
• SERT, Core French, Library, Planning Time, Grades 7-8 etc
ALTERNATIVE (OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL BOARD)
• Forest schools, public libraries, tutoring centres, science programs, early year education etc
Placements will be confirmed during the period of October 1 to November 9, 2021.
You will receive an email from a member of the Placement Team as well as a link to access the Student Assessment Portal. Instructions for this portal will be provided at a later date.
Please note that although extensive planning and preparation is completed by the Lakehead Placement Team, outcomes depend on the availability of hosts and the provincial health decisions as a result of the ongoing pandemic.
Please email orplacement.educ@akeheadu.ca
if you have any questions or concerns.
The Placement Team attempts to respond to all emails within 1-2 business days.
