Do you have your Transitional Certificate? Toronto District School Board is Hiring!

The TDSB is currently accepting applications for those in the Faculty of Ed who currently hold their Transitional Certificate. 

If you have your Transitional Certificate of Registration from the Ontario College of Teachers that permits you to work as a Teacher Candidate, you can apply to work at the TDSB as the TDSB is currently hiring Teacher Candidates for the Elementary and Secondary Teaching panels! 


Once a Teacher Candidate has successfully completed the application and interview process and is hired to the TDSB Teacher Candidate list, they will automatically be added to the TDSB Occasional Teaching List, as long as they provide their official Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) certificate!* 

What does this mean for TDSB Teacher Candidates? No additional application or secondary interview process needed to be added to the TDSB Occasional Teaching list!

How to Apply to be a TDSB Teacher Candidate!  

Applications for Elementary/Secondary Occasional Teaching can be found by clicking the following link:  Teacher Candidate Online Application  

A complete online application package includes:

• Online application form

• Resume

• Cover letter

• Copy of Transitional Certificate of Qualification

• Copies of teacher evaluation or practice teaching reports

• Letters of recommendation (optional)

Please note: Online applications must be completed within 48 hours of starting or it will expire. Once submitted, changes can be made by using their applicant ID number and password.


Important: Those interested in permanent teaching positions with the TDSB, must be added to the TDSB Eligible to Hire (ETH) List in order to be considered. This may require an additional interview and reference check.

HWDSB is Hiring Teachers

HWDSB is currently hiring for Elementary and Secondary Teachers! We welcome applicants with:

  • OCT pending
  • Transitional OCT pending
  • OCT application pending graduation

HWDSB is hosting teacher information sessions to learn more about their current job opportunities, how to apply, and what to expect during the interview process. They have an in-person and virtual session available for March 2024. For both sessions, will have breakout room opportunities to support you on your educator journey including: culturally relevant and responsive pedagogy, high impact instructional strategies in math, self-regulation strategies for students in the classroom and science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The AML is a teacher-led association that is about 30 years old. They led the campaign to get media literacy into the curriculum here in Ontario in 1989 and wrote the initial curriculum. The AML is world renowned as a result.
