Reminder - Orillia Education Career Fair

Good Afternoon Everyone,

This is a reminder that the Education Career Fair will be held tomorrow, Wednesday February 1, 2017, in the Student Commons.

Stop by and check it out!!

Peer Editing

Hello BEd students!

We have some great news!

Your Cohort Representatives have drummed up a Peer Editing System!  It saw its first week on Monday January the 23rd.  The basic idea is that we can all help each other with our assignments! :-)  The library has graciously agreed to help us in this endeavor.  There are 4 coloured posts that the library has at their desk.  At any point, any one of us can volunteer our time to be a peer editor.  All you have to do is go ask the librarian for one of the editing posts, and put it on your table in the commons.  This is a sign to all of your peers that you are ready and willing to help them edit any of their assignments/lesson plans/unit plans etc.  If a student wants an assignment edited, just go up to the table with the post wearing the biggest, friendliest smile, and ask for their help!  Pictured below is what the post looks like!

I hope we can all take advantage of this system, and please remember to volunteer!

Reminder - Important Opportunity - GO Conference

Hi Teacher Candidates!
The Gifted Outreach (GO) conference takes place each May. This year's date will be Friday May 5, 2017. It is an amazing opportunity for all teacher candidates. Not only does it allow you to plan an interactive learning session geared towards Grade 4 to 8 gifted students within Simcoe County, but it allows you to work in collaboration with SCDSB staff to plan the conference itself! This allows you to gain valuable skills, knowledge and training that can be applied when working with gifted students and is a great asset to have on any resume. The GO conference is not only a fun day, but it is a highly enriching process for all involved.

Check out this amazing video highlighting last year's conference: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5NYBXs8YFYzUXpzSFdOQ2V0RTg/view?usp=sharing

If you have had a successful practicum, have passed all your courses, and are interested in working with your peers to create a workshop for this conference, you can sign up by contacting Elizabeth Thomas (sethoma1@lakeheadu.ca) or Rosa Fabiano (rfabiano@lakeheadu.ca) by Friday January 6, 2017.

The GO Conference will require students to participate in information and training prior to the event.
