Student Locker Availability in Heritage Place

We have received a number of inquiries about the availability of lockers for students.

There are a limited number of lockers available for use.
They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.

Important Tips About Securing A Locker:

  • Any interested student must have a fellow student to share the locker with
  • BOTH of the sharing students - must be present at the Education Administration Office, to sign the locker assignment form.
  • Every student must supply their own lock for their locker
  • The fee for the locker is: $15.00 - exact monies ONLY please (To be paid at the time the form is completed)
  • The duration of the locker ownership runs until April 30th, 2015 - after which, any locks and locker contents will be disposed of, by Security
The Education Administration Office will begin the sale of lockers as of the first day of our program's classes at 8:30am on Tuesday September 2nd, 2014.

Preparing For EDUC 4016 Course - C&I Visual Arts in Professional Year

As you continue to prepare for the year ahead, we wanted to send a quick note to all incoming B.Ed Professional Year students to advise them of a handful of additional resources/supplies you will need for your assigned section of: EDUC 4016 - C&I Visual Arts.

Remember: Some of you are slated to take this course in the Fall, and the others in our Winter term. To determine when you are slated to take this course, please refer to your class schedule in MyInfo.  We will leave it to each of you to plan accordingly to be prepared for this course.

A Student's "Supply Kit" for All Sections of EDUC 4016:
NOTE: I have checked with the instructor and there is no specific brand, size or colour for any of these items for which you are responsible to purchase.

We would ask that each of you plan to purchase the following:
  • Scissors
  • 30cm ruler
  • Glue Stick
  • Oil Pastels
  • Crayola White Project Glue
  • 1 sheet Bristol Board (for session 8)
  • Highlighter
  • Post-it Notes
  • Sharpie Twin Tip marker (fine/ultrafine)
Further details about any additional resources that may be required in the EDUC 4016 course will be reviewed with each of you, during the first week of classes, when the instructor reviews the course syllabus with you.

Availability of B.Ed Professional Year Textbooks

All textbooks (for B.Ed courses that decide to have one as either mandatory or optional) will be available in the 500 University Avenue (Lakehead) Bookstore.

The decided textbooks for our B.Ed Professional Year Program will likely start arriving at our LU Bookstore at the end of the 2nd and 3rd week in August 2014.

Availability or stock of all your required texts will be dependent on expected shipment timelines of the various publishers we partner with.

Best-Practice For Our B.Ed Professional Year Program Students:

  • Wait until the end of the 2nd week in August to either visit or contact the LU bookstore.
  • Print out your Class Schedule (in MyInfo) or the chart from your Cohort Assignment/Class Schedule Assignment email (with specific EDUC course codes & sections)
These 2 documents will help you when you arrive to the bookstore, as they generally have the shelves organized by program and course code/section.

Most Important - Securing Your Ministry Documents:

  • There are a number of your courses that will not have a required textbook.
  • These courses will most likely use the Ministry of Education Curriculum Document for that subject, as the required text
Earlier in the Spring, we provided an email outlining how to secure digital copies of these Ministry Documents. please refer to your LU email inbox for that communication.

Remember - Your Course Outlines For Each B.Ed Professional Year Course:
  • During the first week of class, your instructors will review the Course Outline or Course Syllabus with you.
  • That document will not only provide details regarding any required texts but also, details for other resources you may need to secure. (journal articles, publications etc)

The LU Bookstore will be happy to answer any questions you might have regarding textbook availability or sales throughout the summer. You can call or email them at bookstro@lakeheadu.ca or call at (705) 330-4008 ext 2856.

Obtaining Your Lakehead University Student ID Card

Many of you have been inquiring about how to obtain your LU student ID card.

All 1 Year B.Ed students can make their way to our 500 University Avenue campus location, between 8am - until 4pm Monday to Friday, reporting to the Security Office - to have their photo taken and obtain their card

Please be sure to bring your LU Student ID # with you.

This card will be of advantage to you, to potentially receive a discount on your PRC/VSS with MHA check document fees, free use of Orillia City Transit and of course, use of our local YMCA.

For more information on the UPASS and the YMCA partnership, please see:

Please Note:
All students will be required to have an LU student ID card in their possession in time for the September 6th, 2014 sitting of our program's compulsory Math Competency Exam.

Take care and see all of you on Tuesday September 2, 2014.
