We are please to announce that we have finalized the details for the following Professional Development workshops:

Where possible, we would like students to register online for workshops.

Release of 2 Year Professional Program Placements - Fall Term - September 28th, 2015 - Please Read Carefully

Good Afternoon 2 Year Professional Program B.Ed Students,

This is to notify all 2 Year B.Ed students that the Education Administration Team will release our confirmed placement details (to date) on Monday September 28th, 2015.

On Monday morning, all students will receive an official email communication once we have gone "live" with the release of the confirmed placement details. 
That email will provide you with specific instructions to verify your placement details BOTH online via the Education Portal, and in person with the Education Administration Team, before attempting to contact your Associate Teacher.

On Monday September 28th, 2015 - We will have a table set up in the Student Commons in Heritage Place, where ALL 2 Year B.Ed students will be asked to verify in person, the details they see when they log into the Education Portal, for their Fall Placement assignment. In-person verification is required of all students.

Other Important Information As September 28th, 2015 Approaches:
  • Not all students will have confirmed placements when we release detail September 28th, 2015
    • We continue to work closely with all partner school boards (daily), to secure our remaining placement need
  • We encourage students to regularly monitor their LU email AND the Education Portal, for any updates or changes to their placement details
Once you have confirmed your placement details BOTH online and in-person, it is imperative that you are contacting your Associate Teacher, to verify:
  • Correct Spelling of Name
  • Correct Grade 
  • Correct School Board Email Address
  • Receipt of Email Resource Package from Lakehead

Federation Day - Wednesday September 30th, 2015 - REQUIRED for all Legacy 1 Year B.Ed Students

Good Afternoon 1 Year B.Ed Professional Program Students,

As you know, all 1 Year Professional Year B.Ed classes will be cancelled on Wednesday September 30, 2015.  We are hosting a mandatory event for all students on this day at the Orillia Opera House, in the Studio Theatre.

Students will be expected to arrive at 8:30 for registration, with presentations starting promptly at 9:00am.
We have invited different important organizations who will assist each of you, as you prepare to make the transition from B.Ed student to new teacher, seeking employment. In addition there will be an Educator's Panel discussion around "Teaching in the 21st Century".

Please be prepared to stay until 4:00pm.

NOTE:
The make up day for classes that would have been held on September 30th, 2015 will occur on November 11th, 2015.

Athletics and Recreation @ Heritage Place Campus

The Athletics and Recreation Facilitator will be visiting the Heritage Place campus on Thursday, September 14, 17, 21 & 22 2015.

Neil Quinn will be distributing YMCA stickers, taking in person intramural registrations and promoting Varsity and Extramural programs.

Professional Development Workshops Available To You!

Are you interested in registering for any Professional Development (PD) Workshops this year?

We are pleased to announce that we are offering a number of PD workshops this year.

An email was sent to all students on September 10th, 2015 providing a full list of the available workshops in 2015-2016. 

HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THESE WORKSHOPS?
The Sept 10th email included a number of attachments such as flyers and a step by step guide on how to register online.

Paying with VISA. MASTERCARD or AMERICAN EXPRESS
You can register on our website at: http://education.lakeheadu.ca/pde/

Paying by CASH or CHEQUE?
To register when paying by cash or cheque, simply come to the Education Administration Office at Heritage Place to complete the form and pay any associated fees. 
Both payment and form must be submitted at same time, to register any student for a seat in a workshop. 

Please Note:
The Education Administration Office will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 - 1:00pm and again from 2:00 - 4:30pm.

Looking to Obtain Your City Transit/Bus Pass Sticker?

Lakehead's Student Union Office now has the City of Orillia Transit/Bus pass stickers available for student pick up.

Their office is located in room OA1028 at our 500 University Avenue location.

Please Note:
You must have your LU Student ID card with you.

Transit/Bus pass stickers will also be available between 4:30 - 5:30pm on September 9th, 2015 - right before the B.Ed orientation.
