Additional Math Brush Up Sessions

Good Afternoon,

The Faculty of Education has scheduled additional "Brush Up" Math Sessions to take place before the compulsory Math Competency Exam on Saturday September 10th, 2016 at 10:00am.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
  • These sessions are ONLY for students who have been working on their math content knowledge. These sessions are designed to give those students who have been working on their math knowledge a chance to practice problem solving prior to the exam.
  • These are not workshops designed to TEACH you math.
  • It is not possible for us to teach all the relevant math you will need for the exam in one or two sessions (and you will find these sessions more confusing than helpful).
  • However, if you have been working on your math, or feel confident about your math understanding, these sessions will provide you with an opportunity for some extra practice.

WHEN ARE THE "BRUSH UP" SESSIONS?
DATE: Thursday September 8, 2016

Student Parking (Downtown Campus) & LU Student ID Cards

As our 1st day of classes approaches, we wanted to offer clarification on 2 topics that we have been receiving a lot of inquiries about.

Parking Options at Downtown Campus:
The Faculty of Education Administration has received a number of inquiries about parking options at our downtown campus location.

There is absolutely no student parking at the Heritage Place building(This includes both tenant or visitor parking).

The entire Heritage Place Building lot is monitored on a daily basis and cars parked illegally will be tagged by Security and towed at the owner’s expense.
Given this announcement, all students are encouraged to check the Transportation page on the Lakehead University website for parking options, within the City of Orillia.  Found here: https://www.lakeheadu.ca/about/orillia-campus/transportation

Obtaining Lakehead Student ID Cards:
NOTE:If you are a RETURNING Lakehead University Bachelor of Education Student you  do not need to secure a new student ID card, if they already have one.

Any B.Ed program student who has not yet obtained a Lakehead Student ID card, can do so at our 500 University Avenue campus location.

Please visit the Security Office in Simcoe Hall with your Student ID number/ printed class schedule.

The Security team is happy to print Student ID cards Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 3:30pm.

We look forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday September 6th, 2016 for our first full day of B.Ed classes.

Regards,Julie

We have received a number of inquiries about the availability of lockers for students.

There are a limited number of lockers available for use.
They will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Important Tips About Securing A Locker:

  • Any interested student must have a fellow student to share the locker with
  • BOTH of the sharing students - must be present at the Education Administration Office, to sign the locker assignment form.
  • Every student must supply their own lock for their locker
  • The fee for the locker is: $15.00 - exact monies ONLY please (To be paid at the time the form is completed)
  • The duration of the locker ownership runs until April 30th, 2017 - after which, any locks and locker contents will be disposed of, by Security
