2015-2016 STUDENTS - Professional B.Ed Program Student Requests For SAME Cohort Schedule Assignment - Please Read

Student Requests For Same Cohort/Schedule Assignment
 Professional B.Ed Program
2015- 2016 Academic Year

As you prepare to enter  Lakehead's Professional Bachelor of Education Program, it is important to note that the delivery model for this program is structured in such a way that you are assigned to a "cohort" or one of the possible class schedules with classes running Monday to Friday.  This is done to streamline the delivery of all required academic content that is inherent to this program of study.

Proactive Requests For Same "Cohort" or Class Schedule Assignment:
In an effort to be more "environmentally conscientious" we are willing to consider individual requests for students to have the same full cohort schedule assignment, for the express purpose of carpooling.
  • The Education Administration Team reserves the right to approve or reject any request.
    • Once a decision has been made regarding your request, you will receive an email response.
  • The Education Office will respond to each cohort assignment request no later than June 12th, 2015.
  • Please DO NOT contact the Education Office for an update on the status of your request.
  • You can forward a request for the Education Office's consideration.
  • Please complete the following survey, to have your request considered.
Important Notes To Consider Before You Submit A Carpooling Request:
    1)  We have defined a "carpool cohort assignment request" as one not to exceed 2 students in total. (1 driver + 1 passenger)
    2)  BOTH students who make up a "carpool cohort request" must complete the survey, for the request to be considered.
    3)  Naming the SAME STUDENT in multiple carpool cohort requests - will result in all requests mentioning the student's name to be null and void.
    4)  No requests received/forwarded after May 27th, 2015 will be considered.
Before completing the below survey, please be prepared with the following information:
          • Student Carpooler #1's Name:
          • Student Carpooler #1's LU ID Number:
          • Student Carpooler #1's LU Email address:
          • Student Carpooler #1's Address While Attending School:
          • Student Carpooler #2's Name:
          • Student Carpooler #2's LU ID Number:
          • Student Carpooler #2's LU Email address:
          • Student Carpooler #2's Address While Attending School:
To complete the survey, you must be logged into the Student Information Portal, MyINFO.
          OR

Visit www.carpool.ca to get matched with others who want to carpool to campus.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday September 8th, 2015 for the first day of classes.

The Faculty of Education here at the Orillia campus, have planned "brush up" sessions that will take place before the compulsory Math Competency Exam on Thursday March 19th, 2015.

          IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THESE SESSIONS:

          ·    These sessions are ONLY for students who have been working on their math content knowledge. These sessions are designed to give those students who have been working on their math knowledge a chance to practice problem solving prior to the exam.
          ·    These are not workshops designed to TEACH you math.
          ·     It is not possible for us to teach all the relevant math you will need for the exam in one or two sessions (and you will find these sessions more confusing than helpful).
          ·    However, if you have been working on your math, or feel confident about your math understanding, these sessions will provide you with an opportunity for some extra practice.

If you have a specific type of math question, please bring it with you.
The workshop facilitator will do their best to address it.

When Are The "Brush Up" Sessions?:
          ·         Tuesday March 3rd, 2015 - 5-7pm  in OH7 and OH10
          ·         Wednesday, March 4th, 2015 - 5-7pm  in OH8
          ·         Tuesday March 10th, 2015 - 5-7pm  in OH7 and OH10
          ·         Wednesday March 11th, 2015 -  5-7pm  in OH8

          How Do I Sign Up?
We would ask that any B.Ed student wishing to attend either session, visit the Education Administration Office to sign up.

These sign up sheets will be available in the Education Administration Office as of: Wednesday Feb 25, 2015.
There is limited space in the planned sessions, so students are encouraged sign up soon.

          Regards,

          Julie
