Chair's Video Message

Hello everyone. Here's a link to my latest video: https://youtu.be/M5JIFo-kvAg

This week's message includes information about the Education Fair and a workshop to help you prepare to meet the recruiters attending the fair, and another workshop about Budgeting and Finances.

Among the Faculty of Education presentations are the Inquiry Workshop for Full Day Kindergarten with Kathleen Corrigan and Technology in Today's Classroom by Marci Duncan. Please check your emails or the Education blog for details about when and where these workshops will be offered.

Students in the 2 year program, your placement details will be released on Tuesday January 26th. Visit the Learning Commons that afternoon between 1:30 and 3:30 pm to confirm those details.

Not included in the video, but important nonetheless: Practicum/Placement information sessions will be scheduled for each cohort before the practicum block to provide details that will not be covered in your Classroom Management, Planning, and Evaluation  classes. Please check the Education Blog here for specifics about the time and date of your cohort's presentation: http://everythingeduorillia.blogspot.ca/

Finally, I'd like to acknowledge the sad news that the teacher who was killed on Friday in La Loche, Saskatchewan was a 2012 graduate of Lakehead University's Outdoor Recreation, Parks and Tourism and Education programs. A colleague who knew Adam Wood well shared a link to this tribute, which resonates with the conversations I've had with many of you about what makes a good teacher: https://www.facebook.com/rootstoharvest/photos/a.209685915729677.57501.207174875980781/1123459417685651/?type=3&fref=nf

Let's all try to think this week about how important teachers can be in the life of every child, and be inspired by the wonderful educators in our lives, past and present.
